Social scientist, Knowledge bridging,
Wildlife conservation

I work within multiple knowledge systems to reach a bigger picture understanding of wildlife, focusing on knowledge accessibility, legislation connections, co-management, and community-based research.

In my PhD research, I sought to think critically about how Inuit knowledge is mobilized in co-management efforts for the "Dolphin and Union" caribou. I worked with many different policy actors (rights- and stakeholders). Through interviews with harvesters and Elders, we increased our collaborative understanding of these caribou and how to care for them. Today, I am finishing a book based on Inuit Elder interviews about the caribou.

My Work

I am passionate about impactful engagement and community-based and guided research. I work hard to think systemically, to be aware of and address cognitive dissonance, to ensure my work holds integrity, and to strive toward transformative outcomes for Indigenous communities.

A three-staged story towards caribou conservation: Ulukhaktokmiut reports on ‘Dolphin and Union’ and Peary caribou in 2011-2014 and suggested conservation efforts in 2022

This report was a contracted project with the Wildlife Management Advisory Council (NWT) to finish an old interview study done by the Government of Northwest Territories on the “Dolphin and Union” and Peary caribou herds.
